A Christie's auction of Elizabeth Taylor's jewelry smashed several records, bringing in a total of nearly $116 million dollars. Pearls sells for a record $11.84 million and five-day sale of her dresses, jewels and artworks fetch an incredible $153 million. Pictures of beautiful La Peregrina pearl necklace and an emerald and diamond necklace by Bulgari, a gift from Richard Burton to Elizabeth Taylor.

Times Square Ring Hunt kicks off ( Dec 26)
World Gold Council started a twitter-based consumer-facing contest called "Ring Hunt". The winner gets $5,000 and a
two-day, one night trip to New York City from the World Gold Council.
Participants can follow contest's twitter account (Brownvile at @LostGoldRing) for clues. Contest kicks off on Dec. 26 in Times Square, where a 15-second video
billboard featuring Brownvile will repeatedly play, asking for help
finding her ring. It will ask users to help find the fictitious Miranda Brownvile’s ring. The video will run until Jan. 1.

Titanic Gold Jewelry Stolen
The gold-plated necklace owned by first
class passenger Eleanor Wildener of Philadelphia who survived the
Titanic sinking is stolen from a traveling exhibit in Tivoli Gardens,
an amusement park in Copenhagen, Denmark. It is weird as the security alarm did not go off
and the showcase had not been broken into. It's insurance
value is $19,300 but he doubted it could be sold because it is known
internationally.
The
Titanic sank in the North Atlantic on April 15, 1912, while making its
maiden voyage. More than 1,500 passengers and crew perished.
